Eligibility

  • Minimum qualification for admission to Diploma in Pharmacy Part-I course - A pass in any of the following examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics.
  • Intermediate examination in Science;
  • The first year of the three-year degree course in Science,
  • 10+2 examination (academic stream) in Science;
  • Pre-degree examination;
  • Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examination. Provided that there shall be reservation of seats for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes candidates in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Govt. /State Govts. /Union Territory Admns. as the case may be from time to time.

Duration of the Course

The duration of the course shall be for two academic years with each academic year spread over a period of not less than one hundred and eighty working days in addition to 500 hours practical training spread over a period of not less than 3 months.

  • Pharmacist in Government Hospitals.

  • To join B Pharm as lateral entry student for higher education.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates belonging to all categories except Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes for admission to the B.Pharmacy course must have obtained individual pass marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany & Zoology or Mathematics both in theory and practical with a minimum of 35% marks. Not less than 40% aggregate marks in the above subjects is mandatory at the qualifying examination (Academic Stream) after a period of 12 years of study i.e.10+2 pattern of education
  • Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes not less than 35% aggregate marks
  • Candidates qualified in the Diploma in Pharmacy examination conducted by the Board of Examinations of the Government of Karnataka or any other Board of any other state recognized as equivalent there to by the authority of Health University

Scope of the Course

Pharmacy graduates are involved in the research and development of new therapeutics as well as ensure their manufacturing quality control. The demand for pharma graduates is high in sectors like - healthcare, research, manufacturing, medical marketing, pharmacovigilance etc. Pharmacy students will study the subjects on the production of pharmaceutics, pharmacology, pharmacognosy, medicinal chemistry and community pharmacy to serve as a health professional. This background will enable them to get employment opportunity in pharmaceutical industry, community and hospital pharmacy, drug development research, quality control management and to become a entrepreneur.

Admission to D. Pharm and B.Pharm Programme

  • Should have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of admitting year.
  • Candidate belonging to all categories except SC/ST community should have obtained 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Botany & Zoology or Mathematics taken together at the qualifying examination. (Academic stream). For SC/ST candidates the aggregate is 35%
  • The candidates who have passed any qualifying examination other than the Higher Secondary Course Examination conducted by the Government of Karnataka shall submit the eligibility certificate and such admissions are provisional till the Board and University approves

Admission Procedure/ How to apply
Admission for D. Pharm and B. Pharm course will take place as per the directions provided by Board of Examining Authority and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka.

Duration of an Academic Year
Non-semester for D Pharm- The duration of the course shall be for two academic years, with each academic year consist of not less than one hundred and eighty working days in addition to 500 hours practical training spread over a period of not less than 3 months.

Semester system for B Pharm - The duration of the course shall be for four academic years, with each academic year having two semesters. Each semester consist of not less than 100 working days.

All the academic program and examinations are conducted as per the rules and regulations of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka. Apart from the regular academic activity, the students are expected to undertake a practice school in VIIth semester and to submit a project report in the VIIIth semester of the final B Pharm Course. Practical training in hospital pharmacy/industrial pharmacy is included in final year B. Pharmacy.

Minimum qualification for admission to Diploma in Pharmacy- A pass in any of the following examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics
B PHARMACY (Duration 4 Years) Students applying for Bachelor of Pharmacy should have 50% in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or Biology or Computer Science or Microbiology or Zoology
B PHARMA Lateral Entry (Duration 3 Years)
